The Garden of Privatised Delights

7 Apr7 April - 15 Oct15 October 2022
London, UK

Curated by Unseen Architecture, The Garden of Privatised Delights returns to the UK after being exhibited at the Venice Architecture Biennale.

The exhibition presents a body of work by studios including The Decorators and vPPR Architects, which were on display at the British Pavilion during the 17th edition of the Venice Architecture Biennale.

Shown at the Building Centre in London in partnership with the Architectural Association School of Architecture and Museum of Architecture, The Garden of Privatised Delights tackles issues around privately-owned public space in cities across the UK.

Familiar British tropes including pubs and high streets, as well as more general public spaces such as playgrounds and toilets, are explored as immersive installations that ask how we can improve the use and ownership of these environments.

Commissioned by the British Council, the exhibition is curated by Unseen Architecture's Madeleine Kessler and Manijeh Verghese.

The exhibition's name references The Garden of Earthly Delights, a triptych by artist Hieronymus Bosch.

The Garden of Privatised Delights takes place from 7 April to 15 October 2022 at the Building Centre, 26 Store Street, London WC1E 7BT, United Kingdom.
