Trilogy by Karen Ryan
British designer Karen Ryan has created a series of plates called Trilogy by removing the surface decoration of existing chinaware to form provocative messages.

The platters, featuring the words "lies", "beauty" and "forever beloved", are the latest additions to her Second Hand Plate series, which appropriates found Willow Pattern chinaware.

Here's a little bit of text from Ryan:
--
Trilogy in Willow Pattern 2009. Part of the Second Hand Plate series 2005 to 2008.
I damage secondhand old plates. I remove the decorative patterns that camouflage our everyday lies and in its place I leave words that prick our conscience and create portraits of hidden domestics left open for others to interpret.
